EU REACH

Companies that import, manufacture, use or place on the market substances, mixtures or articles must comply with REACH.

Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) (Regulation No 1907/2006) is a European Union regulation dating from 18 December 2006 and entered into force on 1 June 2007. The regulation applies to the European Economic Area (EEA) which includes all 27 Member States of the European Union (EU) plus Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland. The regulation also applies to Northern Ireland due to the Northern Ireland Protocol.

Non-compliance with REACH can lead to a fine or imprisonment. The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) administrates the regulation, the European Commission (EC) makes key decisions and the Member States are responsible for enforcement.
